The 2010/2011 season was very fruitful and our guys did very well placing “Sportiva Sturla” as the 6th team in the Italian rank. From the 2nd to the 4th of March the Italian champion ships were hold in Livorno and “Sportiva Sturla” athletes managed to confirm the team at the 6th place, which was a great result.

Lifesaving is a sport under the International Life Saving Federation including over 100 member organizations all over the world and competitive lifesaving is good both for those doing it and for the society. As a matter of fact lifesaving is not only a competitive sport with a very high technical edge, but also a very good educational tool for the young generations since races are done both at sea and in swimming pools on the basis of real saving lives in the water using fins, torpedo’s, manikins, boards and other special tools of this kind. We strongly believe this is very valuable for our open waters’ safety which is very basically but importantly linked to shipping and that is why we are always keen on sharing this passion together with companies from all over the world supporting this same activity. We would like to congratulate our team and wish all of them the best luck for this 2011/2012 season.

The Lloyd’s List Italian Shipping Awards this year put together most part of the Italian Shipping community in Rome and we are glad we received this prize which we trust is not the result of this year of deep crisis for the whole shipping industry, but the prize for what has been created in 40 years of hard work and professionalism.
We want to thank very much those who nominated and voted us, when we decided to join the event we did not expect we would be awarded and this has made it even more special.
